MojaEV has made its entrance into Kenya’s automotive market, offering a selection of electric vehicles, including the NETA V and several Skyworth models.

As part of its commitment to revolutionizing urban transportation, MojaEV recently introduced 100 NETA V electric cars tailored for Nairobi’s taxi sector. Out of these, 20 units have already been delivered to taxi drivers, while the remaining 80 are scheduled for handover by the end of the year.

Expanding Kenya's Electric Vehicle Landscape

By mid-next year, MojaEV aims to provide a total of 500 electric cars, significantly reshaping the local taxi industry. The leasing of these vehicles to Nairobi’s drivers marks a crucial step toward enhancing sustainability in the region’s transportation system. According to MojaEV, electric vehicles, such as the NETA V, bring notable financial advantages, including reduced fuel consumption and lower maintenance expenses. These benefits enable taxi drivers to improve their earnings and achieve greater financial security.

This initiative goes beyond individual benefits, promoting a broader shift in Nairobi’s taxi industry towards a more environmentally and economically sustainable model.

Addressing Financial Barriers for Taxi Drivers

A common challenge for many Kenyan taxi drivers is limited access to banking services, which hinders their ability to secure loans or finance vehicle purchases. To address this, MojaEV Kenya has partnered with financial institutions to create a payment system that deducts taxi ride earnings directly from drivers’ bank accounts. This system allows drivers to build a credit history, paving the way for loan eligibility and improved financial stability.

Demand for Eco-Friendly Transport Solutions

With approximately 4.5 million Nairobi residents—60% of the city’s population—relying on public transport, there is a growing demand for efficient and sustainable taxi services. Currently, only 11% of Nairobi’s residents utilize ride-hailing apps, indicating significant potential for market growth within the sector.

Skyworth Electric SUVs for Broader Audiences

In addition to advancing the electric taxi market, MojaEV caters to fleet operators and individual customers by offering Skyworth electric SUVs. Recently, three high-end Skyworth SUVs were delivered to Nairobi-based customers.

At the delivery event, MojaEV CEO Mr. Wang emphasized Kenya's commitment to environmentally friendly transportation. He highlighted the Skyworth SUV as a blend of luxury, performance, and zero-emissions technology, aligning perfectly with Kenya’s climate goals.

Combining Comfort and Sustainability

The Skyworth SUVs boast spacious interiors, advanced features, and an all-electric drivetrain, making them an excellent choice for those seeking comfort and performance while minimizing their environmental impact. These vehicles contribute to reducing Kenya’s carbon footprint by producing zero tailpipe emissions, further supporting the nation’s sustainability objectives.
